Carol Ann Dressler, 62, of Mission KS, passed away unexpectly at her home November 6, 2015.
She was born in Topeka, KS on September 12, 1953 the daughter of E. Dennis Dressler & Irene (Thomas) Dressler. She was preceded in death by both parents.
Carol is survived by a sister, Lois Michael of Topeka KS and a brother, Dennis Dressler (Vicki) of Auburn KS, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends as well as her two beloved Bassett Hounds, Thomas and Otto.
She was a 1971 graduate of Washburn Rural High School and obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Washburn University in 1978.
She was employed at Kansas University, Lawrence KS and KU Medical Center, Kansas City KS for over 25 years in various administrative positions. While at KU, she served as President of the Classified Senate for the University employees. After leaving her employment with KU, she worked for Celeritas Works in Overland Park KS for several years. She retired in September 2015.
Carol was an extremely talented songwriter and musician and was well known in the music circles in Lawrence and Kansas City. She loved all kinds of music and played in several bands over the years as well as being an often requested solo performer.
She was a member of the Song Writers Circle and organized "open mic" performances in both Lawrence and Kansas City. Because of her great love of animals, Carol participated in the Bassett Hound Rescue Program and provided foster care for homeless dogs.
An "Open Mic" Memorial Celebration is being planned with date and time to be announced later.
