Carol Mynette Crow

September 27, 1932 — September 27, 2018

Carol Mynette Crow, of Topeka Ks., went home to be with our Heavenly Father, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, September 27, 2018, on her 86th birthday. Born on September 27, 1932 to Walter and Minnie (Stark) Oberg in Warren Mn., she was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. She was raised in Angus, Mn. After high school, Carol graduated from The Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Mn. She then returned home to Angus for several years to care for her ailing father while working in the local hospital.

She married Robert Crow in 1955 in Warren Mn. After relocating numerous times, they ended up in Topeka, Ks. in 1970. They divorced in 1986.

While raising her children, Carol continued her nursing career in Topeka, working at Stormont Vail for several years before taking her dream job with the Neurosurgeon's Unit of Menningers, as their neurosurgical hospital nurse. In 1991, after her children were raised, Carol moved to Palo Alto, CA to continue her nursing accomplishments as the office nurse with The Neurosurgical Unit at Stanford University Medical Center. She retired from nursing in 1999 and moved back to Topeka to be with her children and grandchildren.

Carol was a lifelong faithful servant of the Lord and an active member of the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene where she served in various roles throughout the years. She loved complicated jigsaw and crossword puzzles, playing board and domino games, completing beautiful cross-stich pieces for her loved ones, studying the bible, playing the piano, watching KU basketball and gardening. But her greatest joy in life was her family and her love of Christ. She was an inspiration and Christian mentor to many and will be missed and remembered for her compassion and gentleness, her giving spirit and selfless love and her steadfast faith in God.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her eight brothers and sisters, and her baby daughter, Alice.

She is survived by her three children Mary Crow of Topeka, Ks. Mark (Jan) Crow of Overland Park, Ks. and Mike (Vicki) Crow of Topeka Ks.; her six grandchildren, Abby and Maggie Crow, Alison and Natalie Crow, Tatum and Dawson Crow; her special great-grandchildren Bentley and Brady Trimmer; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be Wednesday, October 3 at 11:00 am at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker, Topeka, KS 66614 with a luncheon reception following at the church. Flowers are welcome, or donations may be given in her name to the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene Educational Foundation, which she helped establish to assist with college tuitions, or the Great Lakes Caring Hospice in Topeka. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.midwestcremationsociety.com.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lexington Park, Great Lakes Caring Hospice and Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene for their loving care and support of our Sweet Carol.
