Carol L. Ballentine died July 5, 2014 in her home at Atria Hearthstone surrounded by her daughters. Carol was born June 6, 1930 in Appleton Wisconsin. She met Bill Ballentine at Stout University and they were married January 19, 1951. They traveled together, with their four children, throughout the country and Europe as Bill pursued his military career in the Air Force. During that time Carol was not only the children's primary caretaker, she also worked for the bases' Family Services. Bill passed away four years ago. Carol is survived by her four children – Barbara Ballentine, Susan (Mike) Wilkinson, James (Tina)Ballentine and Nancy (Joe) Zwiesler; nine grandchildren – Autumn, Megan, Chelsea, Heidi, Leslie, Jami, Adam, Blake and Charlie; and seven great grandchildren - Kelsey, Olivia, Lily, Quinton, MacKenzie, Isaiah and Lucas plus one due in September.
Carol attended Washburn University where she received her BSW She dedicated her social work career working for the Red Cross as the director of the Good Neighbors' program for the elderly. She was recognized for her many achievements as an Elder Advocate throughout her career. After retiring, Carol served in leadership roles on the board of directors for Community Resources Council and the American Red Cross.
Carol has also been very involved with her church. She is a founding member of St. David's Daughters of the King and was a teacher and mentor for the EFM theological adult education program. A Memorial ceremony will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church ay 17th & Gage 11:00 AM on July 10, 2014.
