Brian James Moore, age 55, passed away at his home in Topeka on April 30, 2026. He was born on May 4, 1970, in Indianapolis, IN, to James and Frances (Classen) Moore.
Brian liked to work, particularly on jobs that were interesting to him and provided a wage. After graduating from Woodridge High School, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, he worked as a cook, chef, and “helper” in the nearby golf course clubhouse kitchen. He was good at what he did there.
As time went on, he worked with contacts who wanted laborers such as Brian. He learned to use and care for a range of landscaping equipment, and eventually moved to Topeka, KS, where his parents were living by then. Brian worked for many years in the concrete construction industry operating heavy equipment. His most recent employer was Concrete Unlimited in Topeka. His tireless work ethic, mischievous sense of humor, and unique perspective will be deeply missed.
Brian is survived by his father and step-mother, Jim and Jeanette, of Topeka, his sister Kimberly Suzanne Moore, McKinney, TX, aunts, uncles, cousins, his best friend, Robin Hughes, and his dogs, Harley and Brutus.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Community Church, 7620 SW 21st St, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorials my be made in Brian’s name to the American Suicide Prevention Foundation at https://supporting.afsp.org or Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS, 66604.
