A Life Worth Celebrating
Brady Lynn Hight, 55, passed away on September 27, 2026. Born on November 4, 1970, in Mannheim, Germany, Brady lived a life defined by family, friendship, adventure, sports, and an appreciation for the simple pleasures that made life meaningful.
Brady grew up in Council Grove, Kansas. At the age of 12, he went to live with his grandparents, Millard and Doris Hight, who raised him and played an important and lasting role in shaping the man he became.
An athlete from an early age, Brady went on to graduate from Emporia State University on a basketball scholarship. His love of sports remained with him throughout his life. He was a passionate KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs fan and rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game with friends.
Brady had a gift for friendship. He was the kind of person who could always find someone to share a story, a laugh, a round of golf, or a good time. Whether sitting at a sports bar watching the game, fishing with his buddies, or enjoying an afternoon on the golf course, Brady loved being surrounded by people he cared about.
Golf was one of his greatest passions. He loved the competition, the outdoors, and—perhaps most of all—the camaraderie and good-natured trash talk that came with the game. He also loved hunting, especially bird hunting with his beloved dog, Jagger, and enjoyed countless fishing trips with friends.
Brady also loved to travel, particularly with his wife, Klee Ann. Some of his favorite memories were made on beautiful beaches, soaking up the sunshine, relaxing with Klee Ann, and enjoying a cold Michelob Ultra. To Brady, those moments were what life was about—being with someone he loved and enjoying the moment.
Brady was also a successful businessman and one of the owners of Legacy Motor Co., where he built not only a business but many lasting relationships.
Above all, Brady loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he had a deep confidence that his life did not end here. Brady believed that through his faith in Jesus, he would spend eternity with Him.
Above all else, Brady was also devoted to his family. He was the loving husband of Klee Ann Hight of Topeka, Kansas, and a proud father, stepfather, and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Maddox Robert Hight of Topeka, and his stepchildren, Keaton Heather of Topeka, Kyler Heather of Topeka, Maggie Middleton of Texas, and Lacey Middleton of Topeka.
Brady was especially proud of his six grandchildren: Emmitt, Carson, Landry, Aven, Aria, and Malosi. They brought tremendous joy to his life and gave him countless memories to cherish.
Brady is also survived by Karen Ridley Hight, Maddox's mother; his siblings, Marcus McGuire of Topeka, Brenda McGuire of Wichita, and Brandon McGuire of St. Louis; and many extended family members and friends who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Millard and Doris Hight, and his parents, Wilma M. Hight and Lance L. Hight.
Brady made it clear that he did not want his life remembered simply with sadness. He wanted it celebrated.
So remember Brady on the golf course, with a club in his hand and probably a little trash talk to go with it. Remember him sitting with his buddies watching KU or the Chiefs. Remember him in the field hunting with Jagger, on the water fishing, or telling stories and laughing with friends.
Remember the husband who loved traveling with Klee Ann. Remember the father and grandfather who was so proud of his family. Remember the businessman, the athlete, the outdoorsman, and, most of all, the friend who always seemed to make a good time a little better.
And remember that Brady knew where he was going. He trusted in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and believed that heaven was waiting for him.
So perhaps, right now, Brady is doing what he loved most teeing it up with his buddy BJ in paradise, enjoying a beautiful course, telling a few stories, talking a little trash, and waiting for the rest of us to join him someday.
Brady lived a life filled with family, friendships, sports, golf, hunting, fishing, travel, hard work, faith, laughter, and countless good times.
His story did not end with his passing. It lives on in the people he loved, the friendships he made, the family he cherished, his faith in Jesus Christ, and the memories he left behind.
Brady lived a life worth celebrating. And those who knew and loved him will carry those memories with them until they see him again.
