Bobby Don "Bobby" Fields

Bobby "Bob" Don Fields passed away September 23, 2023, in Topeka Kansas.

Bob was born March 20, 1938, in Petrolia Texas to Orville and Pauline (Wood) Fields. After graduating high school in 1956, Bob enlisted into the United States Air Force, where he served his country for 20 years. He retired with the rank of Tech Sergeant.

While stationed at Forbes Air Force Base, in Topeka Kansas, Bob married Lynda Leuty in 1961, (divorced 1963). They had a daughter, Lynna Renee' Fields.

While stationed in Abilene Texas, Bob married Jacquelyn Shephard in 1966, (divorced 1981). Together they had a son, Jon Austin Fields, and daughter, Bobbi Dawn Fields.

Bob was married to Adela Pacheco in 1983, (Divorced 1986).

Bob loved his time in the Air Force and all the travel that entailed! He was stationed at Forbes in Topeka Kansas, France, North Africa, Casablanca, back to Forbes, Abilene Texas, Gander Bay Newfoundland, Fairbanks Alaska, Thailand, back to Abilene, back to Thailand, Japan, and back again to Thailand. In 1956, Bob went to culinary tech school while stationed at Forbes. He spent the majority of his career as a cook.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1976, Bob had many jobs in many places, including: A cook at the Arizona State prison, worked as a landscaper at DFW airport in Texas, worked for the post office at DFW airport, aviation store clerk for the Navy (civilian) in Mississippi.

In 1986 Bob moved to Lee's Summit Missouri, where he was a guard at a halfway house, mail clerk for the Post Office, and finally worked for GSA. It was during this time that Bob was reunited with his longtime friends Dave and Sandra Gleich. They met at Forbes in 1956 and served many years together in the Air Force. In 1986 Bob and Dave started working together as ticket takers for the Kansas City Chiefs home games. They also ran a concession stand for local auctions together on the weekends. They did this until 2002 when Bob moved back to Henrietta Texas.

Bob enjoyed photography, wood carving, making soap, playing cards and dominoes, (to which he always declared himself as the "Texas State Champion!) family get togethers, eating with his adopted family at Jong's Thai Kitchen, wrestling and watching the Dallas Cowboys!

Bob was number 10 of 13 children, and the last survivor. Preceding him in death were his parents, Orville and Pauline Fields, siblings Willie Kathrine Fields, Winiferd Doris Brown, James Jasper Fields, Mary Frances Rudy, Virginia Marie Fields, Marian Jean Black, Elizabeth Ann Anderson, Billy Wayne Fields, Susie Mae Fields, Joe Richard Fields, Thomas Lee Fields, Cheryl Rene Lewis, and stepson Michael Wayne Anderson.

Bob is survived by his children: Lynna Renee' Garretson (Phil), Jon Austin Fields, Bobbi Dawn Fields, 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He will be missed.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 7th, 2023, at Rock Creek Bible Church 5752 Hwy K-92 Meriden KS 66512.

A graveside service in Petrolia, Texas will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Rock Creek Bible Church.
