Billie Jean Bonnett, 77, of Topeka, KS, was born July 4, 1949, in Blue Springs, MO, from the love of William and Cleo Lutes. If she was a boy, they would have named her Jr, so instead they named her Billie.
Billie was humble, loving, dedicated, strong woman. She always fought for what she believed in because she knew it was God's plan. Anyone that truly knew her knew that her heart was pure gold. Her gentle soul brought warmth to all that she touched.
Billie grew up in Blue Springs, MO graduating from Blue Springs High School and moved to St. Louis, MO to pursue her passion for nursing. She served the VA hospital for over 20 years. Her passion led her to the love of her life, Lewis Bonnett Sr. uniting in marriage, August 10, 1988. Her family was her heart, always bragging how proud she was of her children and grandchildren.
Growing up enjoyed days on the farm with her grandmother, wood making with her father, reading, writing, (so good her English teacher begged her to be a writer not a nurse) playing the guitar, and her love for God. To this day she still has her first Bible from her grandmother
Billie is survived by her children, twins Tia Marie Bonnett, Tio Diablo Bonnett, Ty Lewis Bonnett and Todd William Bonnett, two sisters Candy (David) Holden and Debbie McFarland
Two brothers Joe Sr and William Jr. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Abrielle Crystal, Tyree Joshua, Jamelle Jr (Mel Mel), Alyssa Kay, Tariq William, Taavi Marie Jean, Tyson Lewis, Ariel Jean, and soon to be introduced Amayra, and a host of other relatives
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Cleo Lutes, her husband, Lewis Bonnett, Sr. and a sister, Mary Anne Lutes.
Cremation has taken place. At a later date, Billie will be laid to rest with her late husband, Lewis, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
