Our beloved Beverly Ann McMillian passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 81 years old. She is survived by daughter Natalie Hogan (Chuck), daughter Angela Slayden (Michael), granddaughter Andrea Russell (Brian), granddaughter Erica Stoll (David), grandson Joel Hogan (Patrice), as well as her great-grandchildren Cai, Owen, and Lucas Russell; Ezra and Landry Stoll; Gabriella and Maddox Hogan.
Beverly Ann Summers was born on September 6, 1944, on a farm outside Pattonsburg, Missouri, to her loving parents, Gordon and Lucile Summers. Along with her older brothers, Ray and Max, she enjoyed an idyllic childhood, where she learned the values common to farm life — how to work hard, live a simple yet meaningful life, and above all, the importance of being grateful to the Creator of this beautiful, life-sustaining earth.
She married Eddie Rice on September 16, 1962, and together they were blessed with two beautiful daughters who became the joy of her life.
Her life changed forever when she found a pearl of high value and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on January 6, 1974. Her dedication was no mere formality. She loved being in the ministry and was in her 30th year of full-time service. She lived her faith through her actions and always wanted to be involved in any theocratic event she could be. It brought her great joy to offer herself willingly in LDC projects or host Pioneer School students. She felt it was a highlight in her life to attend International Conventions with every race and color worshiping together in united peace among a divided world. She loved her God Jehovah until she breathed her last breath. She was baptized for over 50 years.
Her love of the Bible was evident in her depth of comments as well as her everyday conversations. Her personal study was a stabilizing force in her life. Through it she developed qualities that are worthy of imitation and will be deeply missed by her family and her brothers and sisters in the congregations she felt privileged to attend. Her generous spirit was unmatched. Whatever was in her power to give to help someone in need, she gave, knowing that all good things come from above. She was only a steward of the goodness that Jehovah God had given to her. She was loving and kind. She had the best sense of humor and the best laugh.
Her excellent example shaped her family in ways that words can't fully express. She quietly taught by how she lived — showing that faith, integrity, and generosity were not things to be spoken of, but practiced daily. Her children and grandchildren are who they are today because of the standard she set: always putting spiritual things first, always making room for others, and always giving more than she had to give. The warmth that filled her home and the kindness that flowed from her heart left an imprint on all who knew her.
"My body and my heart may fail, but God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever." — Psalm 73:26
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, November 1, at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4230 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, Kansas.
She was our source of comfort and a safe place to go. She was our Mom, our best friend, our Baba. We will miss her profoundly until we can all be together again.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donation be made in her memory at donate.jw.org.
