Betty JoAnn (Beverlin) Beseau

May 1, 1930 — Jul 31, 2026

Topeka, Kansas

Betty JoAnn (Beverlin) Beseau, 96, chose for her last breath a gentle prouncement of her wish to speak with God and His angels without further delay and quietly passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, in her home in Topeka. She was born on May 1, 1930, in Winterset, IA, to Charles Dale and Anne Beverlin. They moved to Topeka where Betty and her sister, Patricia, grew up. Betty rode her horse to the school in the “country,” which is now Hope Street School near West 21st Street. She was a proud graduate of that same school, Washburn Rural High School, and remained close friends for life with her classmates, attending every reunion.

Betty married Donald Beseau of St. Marys, KS, on September 7, 1952, and lived in St. Marys for the next fifty years. She worked at Morrow’s Jewelry Store and St. Marys Manor nursing facility. She loved her family and neighbors and was a continuous source of joy, support and engagement. Betty and Don had three children, James (deceased), Sandra (Joseph) Wright, of Houston, and Debra (Mark) Votaw of Topeka. Betty was preceded in death by her sister, her husband. and her son.

After Don died in 2004, Betty moved to Topeka where she lived the rest of her life. In Topeka, she worked for a childcare provider. She enjoyed eating out, shopping, spending as much time as she could with family and traveling. Her devotion to family gave grandkids an easy in-road to getting what they wanted for Christmas.

She is survived by her beloved niece and nephew, Marianne (Charly Pitts) Skaggs of Illinois and Michael (Beverly) Skaggs of Sun City, AZ; dearly-loved nieces and nephews from the Beseau clan; seven grandchildren: Shane (April) Adams of Selma, TN; Dustin Adams of Tupelo, MS; Shanna (Chad) Leonhart of Houston, TX; Christopher Votaw of Topeka; Anthony Votaw also of Topeka; Lyndsay Johnson and Syndey Hayes, both of Georgia; and 13 great-grandchildren: Makayla, Pacen, Colby, Kyndal, Jakub, Kaleb, Veronica, Kaydee, Ty, Carsen, Seth, Bridgett, and Brooke.

We will miss Betty very much.
