Bertha “June” Bunce

June Bunce (Bertha June Allen), 85, passed away on May 2, 2017 in Topeka, KS. She married Frank Bunce on June 4, 1950 in Branson, MO. They shared almost 65 years of marriage together.

Born in Topeka, KS, she was the daughter of William Lewis Allen and Jessie Faye Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Jessie Allen, her husband Frank Bunce, her sisters Doris DeHart, and Lola Allen, her brother Chester Allen, and her children Frank "Skip" Bunce and Gayla Whitehead. Grateful to have shared her life are her sister Loretta Mulvihill, her children Pete (Joni) Bunce, Joe (Frances) Bunce, and Jeffery Bunce, her grandchildren Brandon Whitehead, Stacy (Bill) Bennet, Jennifer (Michael) Grover, Joe Bunce, Michelle (Corey) Pederson, Caleb Bunce, Whitney Bunce, her great grandchildren Jordan Whitehead, Shelbie Lewis, Elijah, Jackson, Emma Grover, Dylan and Sierra Pederson.

June had a fulfilled life which included working at the Cloverdale, CA Police Department, owning the Village Pizza Restaurant in Lakeport, CA with her husband Frank, operating the Roll-A-Way Skating Rink in Ottawa, KS, and raising five children. She was known for her homemade ice cream, candies, and desserts as well as her 4th of July parties, taking her grandkids to toilet paper houses, and always finding a way to spend time with family and friends. She had a desire of spending time with God through her daily reading of the Bible and devotions and was a lover of books, especially Danielle Steel novels. June had a passion of collecting angels that filled an entire room in her home. She was an animal lover, especially as of recently to her little Chihuahua, Misty.
