Benjamin Joel "Ben" "Joe" Campbell, age 58, died in his home in Sedgwick, KS. He is survived by hisdaughter, Lindsay (Austin) Adolphson; two loving granddaughters: Annabelle and Mila. He is also survived by two brothers; James Campbell, Dale Campbell; sister, Michelle Campbell.

Benjamin was a Captain in the Army Nurse Corps located in the Surgeon Cell ofthe 451ts Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) as the Medical Operations Officer.

After graduating from Topeka High School, CPT Campbell started his history with the Military in August 1980 when he enlisted in the United States Marines, he later attended Boot camp the following year in June 1981. He served with the Marines for 4 years before he transitioned to the United States Army Reserves and then to the Air National guard for 2 years 2005-2007 and decided to go back into the United States Army Reserves as a Commissioned Officer in 2008.

CPT Campbell earned his Baccalaureate Degree with a concentration in Nursing Science from Washburn University of Topeka Kansas in 1998. He then attended Army Basic officers Leadership Course and the Joint Forces Combat Trauma Management Course and was also a certified Combat Life Saver. CPT Campbell's served with honor and distinction receiving the Navy & Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (5 Oakleaf cluster), Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Those who knew Benjamin, knew how much he loved animals and had a passion to protect all that he came across. One example of this is his late cat Steve. Steve once lived in the sewers of Wichita and after a few weeks won Benjamin's love enough to make it inside the home and live a wonderful life.

A memorial service will be held on July 17th at 10:30 A.M. at the Ted Ensley Flower Gardens (Gazebo #1) in Topeka, KS.
