Benjamin "Ben" Caldwell Zilkie

Benjamin Caldwell Zilkie, known affectionately as Ben to his friends and family, left this world after a valiant battle with cancer on July 16, 2024. Born on September 12, 1975, in West Berlin, Germany, Ben's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and unwavering service. He departed from us in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by the warmth of those he cherished most.

As a proud Navy veteran, Ben served with distinction on the USS Essex, USS Belleau Wood, and USS Peleliu, a testament to his commitment through the organization "We Have the Watch." Following his military career, Ben furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Legal Studies from Washburn University in 2014. His passion for justice and his desire to contribute positively to society were hallmarks of his character. Ben's professional life was marked by a transition from the structured world of the military to the community-oriented role of a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service.
