Benita Kay (Adams) Wollen

Benita Kay (Adams) Wollen, 78, of Carbondale, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the comfort of her own with her loved ones by her bedside.

She was born November 3, 1944, in Hardtner, KS, the daughter of Orville and Dora (Molz) Adams.

Benita was raised in Osawatomie, KS, and was a 1962 graduate of Olathe High School. She furthered her education earning a bachelor's degree in nursing.

In her younger years she was a league bowler for over 25 years. She had a passion for seeking out covered bridges and loved dogs, cats, and most of all Manatees.

Benita married Glen E. Wollen on February 16, 1963. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Glen survives of the home. Other survivors include their daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" (Jeff) Smith of Harveyville, a granddaughter, Abigayle "Abbi" (Richard) Glotzbach of Alma, a grandson, John (Hayley) Smith of Harveyville. Two great-grandsons, Alex Glotzbach, Eli Glen Glotzbach both of Alma, a brother, Stanton (Virginia) Adams, a sister, Leah Smith all of Osawatomie along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Dora Adams, and two sisters, Betty Clearwater and Zelores Partridge.

Cremation has taken place. A reception will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Community United Church of Christ, 104 S. Fourth Street, Carbondale. A Private burial of Benita's urn will take place at Carbondale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Community United Church of Christ or Midland Care Hospice sent in care of Midwest Cremation, 525 SE 37th Street, Topeka, KS 66605.
