Andrew Peter Nischan, born July 8, 1970, completed his earthly journey on September 2nd, 2025 and has now entered into eternal rest. Andrew, a cherished husband, son, brother, and friend, passed away in Topeka, KS, after a valiant battle with glioblastoma.
Born to Richard Nischan and the late OraLee (Andrews) Nischan, Andrew's early life in Nebraska was filled with the warmth of a loving family. He was a proud graduate of Manhattan High School in Manhattan, KS, and later attended both Manhattan Christian College and Kansas State University. Though his academic pursuits at these institutions remained unfinished, the knowledge he garnered along the way remained a valued part of his life.
Andrew's professional life was marked by over two decades of dedicated service at the Kansas Children's Service League. His compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to the welfare of children were evident to all who worked alongside him. Andrew's kindness and integrity made a lasting impact on the community he served, leaving behind a legacy of hope and resilience.
He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Julie (Holston) Nischan, on June 29th, 1991, who stood by him through every season of life. Together, they nurtured a home filled with laughter, love, and many furry companions through 34 years of marriage.
Beyond his work and family, Andrew found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid lover of pets, sharing a special bond with his dog, Nala, and cats, Simba and Zazu. He also found solace in the virtual worlds of video games, where he often sought adventure and camaraderie. Andrew's sense of humor was ever-present, often lightening the mood with his signature dad jokes that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
Andrew's love for his family was unparalleled. He is survived by his devoted wife, Julie (Holston) Nischan; his father, Richard Nischan; his brother, Tim Nischan; and his sister, Jennifer (Nischan) Rawson.
Though Andrew's time on earth has come to a close, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched. His journey reminds us that our time here is fleeting, yet the love we share endures forever. As we say farewell to Andrew Peter Nischan, we take solace in the knowledge that he rests in the loving arms of his Savior. We rejoice in the promise that we will see him again, and until that day, we will hold dear the memories and the humor he shared with each of us. He will be deeply missed.
"For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever." 2 Corinthians 4:17
