Alfred Henry Wipperman Jr. passed into the loving arms of his Savior on Saturday, October 26 succumbing to cancer. Al was born May 18th, 1928 in Little Rock, Arkansas, child of Alfred Henry Wipperman Sr. and Gertrude (Steinwedel). After graduating from High School in Stuttgart, Arkansas he joined the US Coast Guard where he served on the USS Walt Whitman. Al graduated from Washburn University in 1951 with a BBA degree. He was married to Janice Lee Smeltzer on September 28, 1951, who preceded him in death. Following a stint serving in the US Navy, he worked as an insurance salesman, real estate salesman and other sales industry jobs.
Survivors include children: Stephen (Kristen) Wipperman, Deborah Gibbons and her fiancée Thomas Blindt, Kevin (Becky) Wipperman, Martha Gifford, and David (Ann) Wipperman. Al and Jan were blessed with 20 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Al loved his Lord Jesus and devoted much time and energy to acts of service and church leadership.
A Christian memorial service will be held in Al's memory at St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore St, Topeka on Friday, November 1st at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be sent to St. John's.
