Albert (Al) E. Rodney, 68, of Holton Kansas passed away December 24, 2017 at 2:34pm at his home with family. He was born October 30, 1949 in Huntsville, Missouri and was raised in Moberly, Missouri by his grandmother Nora Hardin and family.
Al served in the United States Army, he was stationed overseas in Korea and Germany, and stateside in Colorado, Georgia, and Kansas. He was a 13 year member of The American Legion Post #1 in Topeka, Kansas. He was very proud of his service to the United States and faithfully flew an American Flag. On a wall at home, he proudly displayed pictures of family members of the United States Military, from the past and present.
Al Rodney married Avis Shupe on August 28, 1993 and they shared their life in Holton, Kansas, until her passing in Feb 2013.
In 2011 he retired from Frito Lay in Topeka, Kansas. Al was an over the road truck driver for Frito Lay for 34 years and had received safety awards for 1, 2, and 3 million miles of driving without an accident. He also competed in the truck rodeo competitions in Texas.
He is preceeded in death by his wife Avis Shupe Rodney, mother JoAnn Rodney Watzlowick, and grandaughter Shanelle Hilke Nattier.
Survivors include; his children, Christina (Steve)Hilke, Cathileen (Corey) Eads both of Cairo, Mo, Jennifer Rodney of Topeka, KS and James (Melinda) Rodney of Eudora, KS; grandchildren, Alexandra Potts, Jason Potts(IL), Tia Goble, Zackary Smith, Hunter Harper(MO), and Makaela Carlock(KS); great grandchildren, Stevi Wilkerson, Carson Hilke, Brayden Goble(MO) and Haley Nattier(IL); siblings, Doc (Susan) Jenkins, Kent (Francis) Jenkins both of Albany, GA, Toni (Steve) Cloud of Topeka, KS, Ricky (Robert) Watzlowick of Leesburg, GA, Tracy Tarrer and Windi (James)White both of Albany, GA; cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends.
Services will be held March 30, 2018 at 3pm at the Missouri Veterans Cemetary in Jacksonville located at 1479 County Road 1675, Jacksonville, MO 65260.
